Weighted Pull Ups - 45 lbs For 7 Reps | Back and Biceps Workout

What's ups guys! Today is my video on weighted pull ups! I was able to do weighted pull ups with 45lbs at a bodyweight of 175lb.
Now, if you’ve seen my previous workout videos, you’ll know that pull-ups are a staple in my workout routine, and between that and deadlifts, I think they are phenomenal for building a massive and strong back. But it wasn’t until three months ago when I started doing weighted pull-ups and I was barely able to do 25lbs.
Well, fast forward to today and I’ve worked my way up to 45lbs for one full set of 7 reps. After that, I was only able to manage between 4-5 reps for 4 more sets. Now I am aware that this is by no means impressive for many others who can easily lift this weight but for reference, I am 175lbs so collectively I am moving about 220lbs, of which 20% is pure, dead weight.
Another reason I wanted to share this video, outside of hitting a PR, is that I was able to improve to where I am by applying the principle of progressive overload. And that’s something I’ve really been preaching in my videos. I think many of us understand the obvious truth in that statement, but sometimes we just need to be reminded of that if our goal is to build muscle and strength. Well, that and nutrition and rest.
