Strength Training for Seniors: Where to Start

How do we encourage and inspire strength training for seniors and older clients?

Timestamps are listed at the end of this description.

Last month I was invited to talk on the Therapy Update stage at Therapy Expo 2021. The talk was titled 'Encouraging our ageing population to get strong'. This gave me a great opportunity to share my thoughts on how we can encourage our older generation to participate in exercises that focus on muscle strengthening. I also cover strategies to help people stay motivated with strength training so that they don't give up after a month or two.

I didn’t want the slides and content to go to waste. So I have recorded the talk again at home so that I can share it with you here.

This talk will benefit you if:
- You attended the talk and want to rewatch any particular areas that were discussed.
- You are a rehab professional who wasn’t able to attend the talk in person and who would like to know more about encouraging older adults to lift weights.
- You aren’t a rehab professional of any form but someone over the age of 60 who wants to learn more about getting started with strength training and lifting weights.
