I couldn’t ever imagine that you can lose everything in the blink of an eye. Because well… I could’ve either died or lost the most important person in my life. So, I was driving back home for the summer holidays after my second year of college. I wasn't paying much attention to the road and wasn't wearing a seat belt. Yes, I'm an idiot, I know, lesson learned. Anyways, it was just starting to rain and suddenly, I saw a kid who was about to run onto the road. I still don't know why he thought it was a good idea to jump onto a high-traffic road so casually. But eh, life is full of surprises. So, I was caught completely off guard and swerved into the opposing line to avoid him. My car got hit by another car that was coming towards me.

Next thing I knew, I was out of my car and couldn't feel anything. No pain, no panic, nothing. I just saw blood everywhere and felt a huge adrenaline rush. I just lay there, not knowing what to do. I heard voices coming towards me but didn't really know what they were saying. And I couldn't even respond. I thought I was going to die. You know how they say your life flashes before your eyes when you're about to die? Well, I started thinking about who I care about and who I love. And at that moment, I thought about my best friend, a girl I've been in love with for around two years. She didn’t know that and I’ve never had intentions to tell her. She is in a happy relationship and I didn't want to ruin it. But at that moment, I felt I was literally dying and all I could think about was her. The pain was starting to kick in, but I was just thinking how she'd never know how much I loved her...

I realized my phone was still in my pocket, and with all the strength I had left, I took it out. I started typing the message to her and it felt like it took ages. The only message I sent to her was ‘I love you’. I thought that it would be the last message ever. I don't remember much after that. I was taken to the hospital and days have been a blur. It feels like I got in a fight with a lion but it's slowly getting better! The other driver and the kid were okay, by the way. I’ve been in a lot of pain this week, so I didn’t have the energy to confront this “I love you” situation. Anyway, as you can see, I didn't die but I couldn't unsend that ‘I love you’ message. I did talk to her on the phone, but we only spoke about the accident. But earlier today, she sent me a message saying we have to talk about what I told her during the accident. I was staring at that message for a while, scared. I didn’t want to reply and didn’t know what to do. But I worked up the courage and called her. I thought it’s better to just tell the truth and maybe this will work out for the better. I didn't expect anything from her, I just didn’t want this true friendship to end...
