Hi, my name is Hallie, and my husband’s betrayal almost got me killed.

Growing up, I struggled a lot with my body image. My mom is stick thin. My dad is built like a string bean. My sisters are built like models… and then there’s me. I’m not super thin, and I’m not curvy like the other girls.

My parents always raised me to be ashamed of my weight, and that stuck with me for the rest of my life. In high school, I didn’t date anyone because I was the ‘fat’ girl, at least, I thought I was. I thought boys would be disgusted with me… and that led to me struggling with unhealthy eating. I constantly hid my body and tried to stop people from seeing me.

Then, I met Robbie, and everything changed. Robbie was in the military and the moment I met him, I knew we were meant to be. He listened to me when I ranted about my parents. He told me that they were abusive and he promised to take me away from them. On top of that… he told me my body was beautiful. He spent hours telling me how perfect I was for him. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was.

So, even though it was fast, we got married. My parents told me I barely knew Robbie, but deep down, I didn’t care. After all, when you know, you know, right?
