Westchase Thanksgiving Food Drive 2021

The Gift of HOPE – Every year for the past sixteen years the Tampa, Florida Westchase Community has exemplified the spirit of Thanksgiving by putting on a massive one-day food drive to gather all the ingredients for the traditional Thanksgiving Day meal for those in need. In 2021, over eight-hundred frozen turkeys were given along with forty-seven-thousand pounds of food and cash contributions that will be used by Metropolitan Ministries to prepare “Boxes of Hope” that will allow thirty-three-thousand members of the community to prepare Thanksgiving dinners in their homes this year. The key word is “hope.” When the Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving, they weren’t celebrating their wealth and abundance as much as they were celebrating the fact that they had survived a tough year and as a way of expressing hope for better times ahead. The Westchase Food Drive shows that when you provide people with a way to give, they will respond and there will indeed be hope for a better tomorrow.
