Lam Nai-choi’s Her Vengeance is a brutal Category III revenge thriller that pulls no punches. Pauline Wong stars as a nightclub employee (variously described as a hostess or public-relations officer for a Macau dancing troupe) named Kit-Ying who survives a savage gang rape and is left broken, humiliated, and cast aside. Refusing to remain a victim and having contracted a venereal disease from her attackers, she travels to Hong Kong to hunt them down one by one, with the reluctant help of her ex-brother-in-law Hung (Lam Ching-ying) a former triad now confined to a wheelchair who initially refuses to involve himself in her revenge but is eventually pushed over the edge. The film is raw exploitation, but Lam calibrates it toward a genuine bleakness: by the end, almost everyone is dead, and the film refuses to present vengeance as catharsis or resolution. The attacks are filmed with unflinching cruelty, ensuring that every ounce of payback feels brutally justified. Wong’s performance anchors the film, giving it an intensity that lingers long after the credits.
