Drunken Master II 1994 - Official HD Trailer
Drunken Master II (1994) - Cult Film Index Review
If the original Drunken Master reinvented kung fu comedy, Drunken Master II (1994) perfected it. Returning to Wong Fei-hung years later, Jackie Chan and director Lau Kar-leung create something bigger, sharper, and more physically astonishing, a sequel that many fans rightly consider one of the greatest martial arts films ever made. The production was notoriously troubled: Lau Kar-leung was fired mid-shoot, with Chan taking over directing duties for much of the film's action, making the final result all the more extraordinary. Lau himself appears on screen as Master Fu Wen-chi, the formidable fighter in the film's blistering opening train sequence. This time, Wong Fei-hung, played by Chan at the peak of his powers, is drawn into a conspiracy involving the theft of priceless Chinese artifacts by foreign smugglers. What begins as a misunderstanding during a train journey spirals into escalating confrontations, with Fei-hung clashing against his father Wong Kei-ying (Ti Lung), the unforgettable comic force of his stepmother (Anita Mui), and eventually the terrifying enforcer John, played by Ken Lo in one of martial arts cinema's most brutal final boss performances.
