He Knows You’re Alone (1980) – Cult Film Index Review

Before Friday the 13th made slashers a cottage industry, He Knows You’re Alone crept into theaters with a simple but effective hook: a killer targeting brides-to-be on the eve of their weddings. Set against Staten Island streets and suburban churches, the film follows Amy (Caitlin O’Heaney), who begins to suspect she’s being stalked while planning her big day.
Best remembered now as Tom Hanks’ first screen role (in a brief but charming cameo), the film is otherwise a straightforward early slasher, moody atmosphere, POV stalk shots, and a killer who feels like a shadow of Michael Myers. While not as flashy or gory as its contemporaries, it remains a fascinating time capsule from the dawn of the slasher boom.
