Big Visit! More Transformers, Megapack Cables & Solar Panels! 21 May 2025 Giga Texas Update(08:15AM)

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Gorgeous day to fly and following up on a momentous news day yesterday for Tesla, Elon Musk and Giga Texas! For those that did not hear, the Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy visited Giga Texas yesterday, did an interview with CNBC from the main entrance area of the factory, toured the production lines, got an autonomous drive in unsupervised mode, and filmed several public service and informational videos with Elon Musk.

What a great way to finally acknowledge the work of so many talented Tesla employees, highlight the technologies Tesla is developing and opening up all of this to a new audience via a US administration cabinet member! IMHO, it’s about time!

In the video introduction, I discuss some of the details that were announced pertaining to the Robotaxi service rollout coming up next month (less than 2 weeks) here in Austin. Tesla is going to proceed cautiously, with about 10 vehicles at the start, and then ramping quickly on a weekly basis as they gain additional experience and prove out the system. At first, Tesla will geofence certain parts of Austin to gain experience and then expand to other parts of the city.

Elon did say that the very first drives will be without a human driver, and that in a few months, he expects to ram to 1,000s of robot axis and then expand further, to different cities such as San Antonio, Dallas, Houston and then other states such as California and more. He did reiterate eventually Tesla owners will be able to allow their cars to be added to the fleet. Many more details were revealed, and I'd recommend you watch the full videos available on a number of social media sites.

In addition, the Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy visited Giga Texas, and I reviewed several key aspects of his visit, including the desire to develop a national autonomous car standard and policies, instead of having each state come up with their own. Not only Elon, but many others that offer) or plan to offer) similar robotaxi services and/other autonomous driving cars have voiced their support for this approach.

Again, there is too much to cover in this intro, so I'd recommend you view the full videos available on social media. Perhaps the most significant part of yesterday was an administration cabinet member present at Tesla's headquarters touting the products and technology of the company!

A lot more to see today in the images and video, including Megapack #2 main cable pulls, Cortex 2.0 facility rapidly approaching the north end with steel assembly, roof decking and now early preparation for wall panel installation, SW angled corner entrance getting wall panel material installed, and more solar panels being lifted onto the roof of the main factory!
