In the First World War, there were numerous instances of battles which saw particular Regiments face casualty ratios upwards of 100%. How can this be possible? How can every man of a group, and then a few more, ALL become casualties? And how could it have happened on so many different occasions? Well, it is certainly a brutal reality...but it might not be *quite* so brutal as the figure initially suggests!
