We Never Look At The Market

Big research firms say you need to start with market research. Understand what the consumer needs.
But those people will never understand the business.
When you develop a concept, do you look at what you personally want to do? Or what the market needs?
We never look at the market.
This business is simple. It's sharing.
Let's say you're from Azerbaijan. I've never been there. I don't know the food.
I come to your house. You give me this drink. This food. You say "I did this order." We do this ritual. This dance.
I'll be like "Wow, Azerbaijani food's amazing."
But I wouldn't know until you showed me. Until you shared it with me.
Market research tells you what people already know they want. But the best restaurants don't give people what they want. They show people what they didn't know existed.
