This is why most of you will never become a GM

This is why you'll never become a general manager.
And it has nothing to do with talent.
I've seen this over the last 30 years.
People wait to be ready instead of stepping up. They want the role but they don't want to take the responsibility.
In this industry, you grow when you act early. And that is the difference.
Most people think the path to GM is linear. Put in the years. Learn every department. Wait for someone to tap you on the shoulder and say "you're ready."
But that's not how it works.
The people who become GMs? They acted like GMs before they had the title. They took responsibility before it was assigned to them. They stepped up when nobody asked them to.
Waiting to be ready is the same as saying no. Because by the time you feel ready, someone else already took the job.
