Black Bear Mother and Her Cubs - Washington State

Black bears (Ursus americanus), are rather common throughout North America. This mother bear with her two cubs visited our place on Easter Sunday this year. Even though the cubs are only one year old, they are already about three quarters the size of their mother. They enjoy playing like rambunctious little children, but can be hard on shrubs and small trees. It can be fun to observe their antics from a safe distance.
