Columbia River - Frenchman Coulee to Vantage Bridge, Washington State

The Columbia River north of the small town of Vantage is a great place to experience a desert landscape born of vast lava flows and sculptured by catastrophic flooding and wind. Here the mighty Columbia River is tamed behind the massive Wanapum dam as it makes its way to the ocean. This waterway provides critical habitat to many diverse creatures and is a great place to explore and appreciate some of the wide open spaces of rural Washington.
