Iceland - Reykjavik, The Ring Road and Westfjords

Iceland is an island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is situated on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a divergent tectonic plate boundary separating the Eurasian Plate and the North American Plate. Iceland is known for its volcanic activity, with more than 30 active volcanic systems. About 11% of Iceland's land area is covered by glaciers and ice caps. Vatnajökull, located in the southeast, is the largest ice cap in Iceland and the largest in Europe. Iceland has a rugged coastline that stretches for about 4,970 kilometers (3,088 miles), including numerous fjords, peninsulas, and cliffs. The Westfjords region in the northwest is particularly known for its intricate fjord landscapes and remote beauty. Iceland's unique geography, shaped by volcanic and glacial forces, contributes to its breathtaking landscapes making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike.
