Plasma reactor (Gliding arc discharge). Atmospheric pressure plasma jet. Must constric the arc between two sheets of high temp. quartz plate, ceramic tile, ceramic glass or mica. the temp may exceed 5000F. water cooling low temp glass will not work, must have proper high temp. material that touches the electrodes. these electrode are made from .015 brass sheet stock.. the smallest gap to start the arc was approx. .30 inches. the widest point in the enclosed Jacob's ladder was .80 inches. the length of the ladder was 2 inches. the plasma flame was approx. 2.8 inches long. the flame goes from thermal plasma at the arc start cooling to cold plasma at the tip of the flame. the flame tip will exceed 500F and the arc start can exceed 5000F. 2-10 liters per minute of oxygen feeds the plasma. the power supply is a 195-360 watt AC neon transformer running 12KV at 30 MA. Reacting gas (oxygen in our case) was input ionto the reactor via a long 1/4 inch copper tube with very small jets at the bottom of the dual glass and attached by silicone seal.
