Ed Gray exp. 10 (rotary commutator 3)

we are switching a 1/2 wave DC voltage into the 12 vac / 115 vac transformer and we light a 115 vac bulb. This motor / commutator is very fragile and burns the commutator in 5 minutes run time at 2 amps. Voltage being fed the commutator was 12 VDC but the transformer was only seeing around 7 vac depending on the frequency of rotation. motor to try this experiment with should be at least 5 poles. the motor we are using is a 3 pole and only one pole is being switched. see this web site for motors: http://www.robotshop.com/dc-motors.html
Should have air injection blowing on the brushes to keep cool and limit the amps to under 2.
