Hey, guys. It's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we have a 2024 Ford F-350. And we're gonna be taking a look at the B&W Gooseneck Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit for OEM puck systems. This OEM puck system's gonna come with this nice handy carrying case, which may not seem like a whole lot, but when it comes to not using your gooseneck ball for the security of it, if you don't have a tonneau cover like we have here, you can simply pull out your kit, put it in this rotomolded case, and then stick it in the cab of your truck and not have to worry about any of these components rolling around in the back of your truck or in the backseat of your truck. To get it connected, all we have to do is simply set it in place, pull this little trigger here on this nice large handle, flip it down, and now it's locked into place.

For your safety chain loops, you will pull up on this little handle, turn, set it down, and then it locks into place. And we'll do the same thing to our other one. This gooseneck ball is going to be a 2 5/16ths gooseneck ball, which is pretty well industry standard. It's gonna have a max towing capacity of 30,000 pounds, which is a great, great towing capacity. One thing with that super high weight capacity is you will wanna check both your trucks and your hitch's weight capacities to be sure that it can handle that amount.

If it can't, go with the lowest component or the lowest weighted component between the three. The truck, the hitch, and the gooseneck ball kit. The whole kit is going to have a plating on it to help resist against rust and corrosion over time. But with the gooseneck ball, I do recommend putting some grease on top of it. You may have done this in the past.

It definitely helps to keep that finish on it and to help your trailer turn nice and smooth on top of that ball when you're towing it. When it comes to the safety chain loops, I just, I really like how these work. The opening is a nice large opening. They're locked, nice and secure in here. This is going to be a gravity fall latch, so you don't, there's no spring mechanism you have to pull up on.

The other thing that is it's nice and large so you can open it very easily, turn it, and then lift out your safety chains when you're not using them, and then in order to lock it back in place, simply turn it and it falls back down. My all time favorite feature about this kit has got to be the handle. The handle is very, very large. So, if you're putting your kit in with gloves on, you can definitely, definitely reach in here. Grab this little tab, flip it open. The other benefit and the reason this was actually created was because in order to lift this ball out, typically with a normal gooseneck ball, you have to grab the ball itself and lift it out of the hole. Well, what I just mentioned was that we have to have grease on here in order to have that friction reduced on the inside of our coupler. So, you almost always have to have gloves or a pair of, or some rags with you in order to get your gooseneck ball out. With this kit, you do not have to have that. It has a nice handle. Your hands stay away from that gooseneck ball. When you're ready to put it back in, drop it into place, pull this tab and then drop the handle down and that locks it into place. The owner of this vehicle is upgrading to the B&W gooseneck ball kit because they don't like the way that the factory Ford kit works. That's going to have this little latch lever that you have to lift up. This is exactly what I was talking about with the grease and stuff. There's gonna be grease all over this. We actually wiped all this off. But you have to lift this up. There's a high chance that you're gonna get gunk and dirt and all kinds of stuff in there. We still got some dirt in there. But this is, that's a style that I don't like and that's what the owner doesn't like either. The other thing is, is in order to pull these safety chain loops out, you have to lift this little tab in here. You have to lift that out and drop it into place while holding this up, spin it, and then drop it back down. This is just, everything about this kit is just so much more robust and heavy duty, and that's what I would prefer if it was going into my truck.
