Imagine we're at trial.
Your trial.
Your medical malpractice case.

The doctor you sued is on the witness stand.
I called him to testify.
I am cross-examining him.

It becomes obvious that his testimony is filled with inconsistencies.
He's telling half-truths.
He's shading the truth.
He's not telling the whole truth.

I'd like nothing better than to yell out "LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!"

What do you think the jury would do if I yelled that out in the courtroom?
Would they agree with me?
Would they see that this doctor can't keep a straight face when telling his lies?

Actually, no, they wouldn't.
At least not yet.
That's because they don't know all the details yet.
They haven't heard your testimony yet.
They've only heard a little bit from the doctor.

They haven't seen the medical records that show the doctor's testimony is less than truthful. They haven't heard the other witnesses who disagree with what this physician has said. Nor have they heard from our medical experts yet about what this doctor did violated the basic standards of good medical care.

If they heard me accusing the good doctor about being a liar, they're going to wonder why.
Until and unless I can show that the doctor you sued is a liar, it's probably not a good idea to go around the courtroom yelling it out while he testifies.
