Vintage Rusted Meat Grinder - Restoration - WorkshopDC
Hi guys! How are you doing?
In today's video I show you how I restored a Vintage Rusty Meat Grinder.
This grinder was produced by Eberle Metalurgica, here in Brazil. This metallurgy exists to this day but with another name, and producing different types of products.
I haven't found anything about the age of this grinder but it may have been produced in the 80's-90's.
To start the restoration without breaking any part of the grinder, I decided to do electrolysis to remove the deep rust and loosen the stuck pieces.
I removed the grinder from the electrolysis and washed it with water only.
After that I started disassembling it.
Only with my hands and the help of a hammer and file I disassembled the entire piece.
With everything disassembled, I washed the parts again but now I used degreaser.
The product was very effective in removing surface rust.
Now I can restore piece by piece.
For the grinder and its internal part I made a Seasoning to protect against bacteria and rust.
I painted the Grinder with Silver spray paint and highlighted its numbering and brand with black enamel.
There was a layer of some metal that protects the surface of the piece, but I don't know what it was.
I also put other parts in the rust remover, brushed and painted too.
I restored the old wood handle and varnished it.
For the pieces that were originally polished I did a nickel plating and polished the parts again.
With all the parts ready, I can assemble the grinder.
I did a little test to see if it is working correctly and yes it does.
