Rhubarb and Strawberry Crumble Recipe
Do you like crumbles? Ever tried a Rhubarb and Strawberry crumble? They go together beautifully. Rhubarb and Strawberry is not an obvious combination, but this recipe combines them together to make a delicious pudding. This video is aimed at the novice baker. You don't need any experience to make this recipe. And you don't need any special equipment or fancy ingredients. This is an easy baking video tutorial for beginners. Happy Baking from Scrummy!
Rhubarb and Strawberry Crumble Recipe
TIMINGS:
Prep Time: 15 mins.
Cooking Time: 45 mins.
Total Time: 60 mins.
SERVINGS:
Serves 6 - 8 people.
INGREDIENTS:
For the Fruit Mix.
• 4 cups (400g/14 ½ oz) rhubarb, cut into 2cm/ ¾ inch pieces.
• 1½ cups (200g/8oz) strawberries, cut in half.
• ½ cup (100g/3 ½ oz) sugar.
The Topping.
• 1 cup (150g/5oz) plain flour.
• 7 tbsps (100g/3 ½ oz) butter, cold.
• ¼ cup (55g/ 2oz) sugar.
• ¼ cup (50g/1 ½ oz) semolina.
• ¼ cup (25g/1oz) porridge oats.
To Serve.
• Custard/Whipped Cream/Ice Cream.
METHOD:
1. Preheat the oven to 160°C Fan/180°C/350°F/ Gas Mark 4.
2. Grease a pie dish with butter.
3. Pour in the chopped rhubarb, strawberries and sugar.
4. To make the crumble top, place flour and cold butter in a bowl, then rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
5. Add the sugar, semolina and porridge oats and stir until everything is combined.
6. Pour the crumble mix over the fruit and spread it out so that all the fruit is covered.
7. Place in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes.
8. Serve warm with custard, cream, ice cream or why not even all three.
9. Mmm Scrummy!!!
STORAGE:
• The crumble will keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.
• The crumble can be frozen, cooked or uncooked, for 3 to 4 months.
