How to improve your Instant Ramen~Back to College Edition~With Chef Frank & Doyle
Instant ramen is a staple food for a lot of college students. In this video we will explore ingredients you can have in your dorm or house to make the plain ramen packet into something delicious. We will also have my son Doyle show you his go to hacks take his ramen from a snack to a meal.

Doyle's ramen
Serves 1
1 packet chicken instant ramen
2 cups/236ml water
2-3 tbsp/29-44ml soy sauce
2 tsp/9ml miso paste
1/2 tsp/1g curry powder
1/2 tsp/1g paprika
2 tbsp/29ml chili oil
3-4 oz/85-113g cooked chicken
1 scallion chopped
1 egg
Microwave insructions
Measure 2 cups water into a bowl. Heat on high for 3 minutes. Add noodles, seasoning pack, soy sauce, miso, curry powder, paprika, chili oil & cooked chicken. Heat for 5 more minutes. Stir well. Top with scallions.
Chili oil
makes 1 pint/473ml
1 cup/240ml vegetable oil
1 clove garlic smashed
2 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
1 bay leaf
2 tbsp/28g chili flakes
1 cup/128g gochugaru
Heat the oil in a small sauce pot. Add the garlic, anise, cinnamon & bay leaf. Cook on low for about 5 minutes. Place chili flakes and gochugaru in a heat proof bowl. strain the hot oil over the chili flake mixture. Stir & let cool. Store in the refrigerator for 2 weeks.
