3D Printing - How Long Does the Heat Break Tube Last? - Part 2
This video series explores my experience about how often you need to replace the heat break tube.
I'm printing 10-15 hours/day 7 days/week to make pieces for my Etsy store (see link below).
Part 1 Covers analyzing the problem and removing the heat break tube to examine it.
Part 2 Covers installing a new heat break tube and trying to recover a print that didn't finish because of extrusion problems and I answer the question: How Long Does the Heat Break Tube Last?
Eventually your heat break tube will deteriorate and filament will accumulate around the end stuck into the nozzle. This leads to extrusion problems and failed prints.
For 3d printers that don't have an all metal hot end, there's normally a PTFE tube known as a heat break tube inside the heat break above the nozzle. This keeps the heated nozzle from melting the filament before it gets to the nozzle and causing problems.
All metal hot ends don't have a heat break tube, but for PLA, most people find a heat break with a PTFE tube it works better because it prints at a lower temperature than other filaments.
