Birds Nesting Near Train station - Little bittern family

Look at these birds nesting near train station! This little bittern family is hidden in reed beds, and the nest is very hard to find, but the birds made their nest so close to the trains, that you can hear the sound of a passing train near the end of the video.
Train station proximity is usually a problem for bird nesting, since the noise from the train can disturb the birds.

This is a little bittern bird (Ixobrychus minutus). It is a wading bird of heron family. It inhabits fresh marshes and wetlands with reed beds. It feeds on fishes, amphibians and insects which are caught within reedbeds or at their edges by the bird slowly stalking the prey.
Usually little bitterns make nests in the reeds as well.

The parent bird in opens the beak to keep itself cool during a hot summer day.

This is a unique video documenting a nesting pair of little bitterns in Primorsky Krai (Far East of Russia). The closest documented breeding of little bitterns is 1500 km to the West of this area.

The video was filmed near Vladivostok, Russia by Amur-Ussuri Center for Avian Biodiversity.
