PINE GROSBEAK SONG | Nesting Bird | Bird Nest Camera Live
Pine grosbeaks are beautiful birds native to Sakhalin island. The song of pine grosbeak is beautiful and quiet; it is a relaxing song to your ears. Female pine grosbeaks are yellow and male pine grosbeaks are red.
Nests of pine grosbeaks on Sakhalin island are usually located in elfin pine forests and these birds are dependent on elfin pine, because they feed on pine nuts (as seen from the name, pine grosbeak). Pine grosbeaks feed their chicks pine nuts as well. Parents bring peeled nut seeds and distribute them to chicks in portions in the form of semi-digested mass. Like all finch species they feeds their chicks very rarely.
An important role is that these birds spread the seeds of elfin pine and other plant species which they feed on.
For wintering, this sedentary nomadic species sometimes migrates to the Japanese Islands, but more often it stays in breeding grounds when there is a good harvest of elfin pine.
In this video you can see pine grosbeaks singing and see their behavior in the natural habitat. The birds can tolerate loud sounds - for example, this pair nested near the railroad.
There are also dusky warblers singing in the background.
The video was filmed using special camera equipment. Cameraman is Alexey Bezrukov.
