Japanese police arrest suspected gunman in post office following hospital shooting

Japanese police have arrested a suspected gunman after a several hour-long hostage standoff at a post office, according to local media.

The gunman allegedly shot two people at a hospital in Japan before fleeing to a nearby post office where he held two women hostage.

Both women have been freed and are uninjured.

The man, who is reportedly in his 80s, allegedly shot a doctor and a patient who have non-life-threatening injuries.

The motive behind the attack is unknown.
