CBC Vancouver Special ONE NIGHT STAND from 1982 featured The Rovers with co-host Canadian country music star Carroll Baker. Following their pop hit, Wasn’t That a Party in 1980, the Rovers dropped the word Irish as they wanted to prove their versatility and expand their audiences and repertoire. In fact The Rovers had won Most Promising COUNTRY Band in the US trade magazine Cashbox in 1981!! Carroll Baker won the Juno (Music) Award for Country Female Vocalist of the Year 5 times, was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992, and had 14 #1 singles on the Canadian country music charts. Here the Rovers and Carroll are backed by a full Orchestra and back-up singers (unusual for the Rovers) as they perform folk, country and pop/rock songs.
