Don't Let A Number Define You: Deborah Van De Beek at TEDxYouth@Frankston
Deborah Van De Beek is in her final year of schooling and aspires to study international Law and Journalism. The pressures for young people to perform academically and meet the standards for tertiary education are huge and at times come at the cost of losing your own personal identity. At the end of your studies you are "defined" by a number however it doesn't have to be this way. Deborah challenges this notion and through discussing her own journey shows how it is possible to not only succeed academically but importantly remain true to yourself, passions and those around you.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
