If there were a manual: Louis Lafair at TEDxYouth@Austin

In 2013-2014 Louis served as a National Student Poet, the nation's highest honor for youth poets presenting original work. During his term, he has toured the country, working with students and teachers, and presenting at events like the National Book Festival and the Texas Council for Teachers of English and Language Arts. The National Student Poets Program is a partnership between the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

Louis also happens to be the founder of TEDxYouth@Austin, for which he helped lead a team of 50+ members for an annual event of 850+ attendees. After graduating high school, he has passed on the reigns, and is now continuing his exploration of the world in the Stanford University Class of 2018.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
