Fat Gecko Mini Camera Mount - Road Test - Wilmslow urban streets

I've opened one of my Christmas presents a few days early - a Fat Gecko Mini Camera Mount, so I thought I'd do a little road test. The Fat Gecko mount has a suction pad which can stick to any flat smooth surface. I have a little well with a flat plastic section above the dash board which was ideal for this. If you don't have a flat smooth surface available, then you could always stick something down which does. There wasn't enough space and / or movement in the adjustable arm to attach the camera to the windscreen and still have the camera upright.

Having stuck down the mount, I put my Sony Handycam on top and went and did a small route on (ocasionally bumpy) roads in urban area of Wilmslow.

Verdict: Seems to do a generally good job - there is still a hint of shake at times when the road surface isn't perfectly smooth, but I think that might be as much a function of movement of the flat section the mount is on, rather than the mount itself. The mount stayed well stuck throughout the drive and didn't appear to be in danger of falling off.
