Venus, Mars and Saturn, April 14th-15th 2012

A quick view of the three bright planets visible in the evening sky during mid-April 2012 - taken through my 8" LX90 telescope.

Unfortunately, the seeing (air steadiness) was very poor - which has degraded the video quality.

Venus is just over 1 month from inferior conjunction - where it will actually pass across the face of the Sun - and is now showing a wide crescent as it draws nearer to us. Unfortunately, Venus was very low down where the air was particularly unsteady.

Mars is just over 1 month after opposition. The Earth has overtaken it in its orbit and we are moving away quite rapidly.

Saturn was at opposition - directly opposite the Sun - but unfortunately was also very low down where the air was unsteady.
