Tegg's Nose: Out and About

Take a walk up from the village of Langley near Macclesfield, up to the top of the hill and country park of Tegg's Nose, via the old Quarry. Tegg's Nose is a very popular site with easy access, and its position on the western edge of the Peak District gives it some outstanding views, particularly over the Cheshire plain. The climb is reasonably steep, up to the summit at 380m (1,246ft), but the views are definitely worth it. In fact, the air to the West was so clear on the day I went up, that even distant Snowdon and Carnedd Llewelyn were just faintly visible, although the contrast wasn't good enough to capture that on camera.

As well as offering fantastic views, several walks can be done from here. The Gritstone Trail and the Sadlers Way pass through - and the Teggs Nose Trail is a shorter route in the country park itself. There are also mountain bike trails, and a few bridleways for those on horseback.
