Peta Credlin scrutinises Andrews on $30 million security firm contract

Sky News host Peta Credlin has scrutinised the Andrews government's $30 million hotel quarantine contract, handed to a private security firm that was not on a pre-approved or vetted list of possible firms.

Ms Credlin said the decision was in contravention of the advice or warning given by the procurement board.

Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews said to his best recollection the firm had been mentioned a number of times in discussion and was confident the hotel inquiry would make the appropriate determination.

"These matters are very much under the active consideration of the board and they have already and will continue to turn their minds to what, if any, findings they need to make," he said.

"I don't think it is accurate to say the board is not well placed to make judgements about processes that were adequate or otherwise when it came to the letting of contracts.

Unified Security – without being on the preferred tenders list – was given a $30 million three-month contract later that night to start immediately.
