It's time 'to sack Victoria's premier, his con has now been exposed': Andrew Bolt
Sky News host Andrew Bolt says it’s time to sack Victoria’s Premier as the “con of this man” has now been exposed.
His comment comes after Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews reneged on his initial decision to allow the Cox Plate event to go ahead for the reason that it didn’t meet the standards of the Victorian community.
“Yesterday Andrews' racing minister, Martin Pakula, announced it was actually safe enough to allow 500 owners and their connections to gather at the Cox Plate Races next Saturday,” Mr Bolt said.
“But last night, Pakula realised – oops - he’d exposed the fraud of Victoria's 13-week lockdown. He was allowing 500 racing royalty to meet, when his obsessed Premier was still banning more than 10 people from gathering at a funeral.”
Minister for Jobs Martin Pakula said he was “struck” by the community reaction to his initial announcement that the event was safe to proceed.
“It’s true the health advice was that it could go ahead safely, but there are other factors to consider, in terms of making a decision like that, including whether or not its consistent with community expectations given the situation the community was in,” Mr Pakula said.
“Now what Andrews should have said, what a responsible premier would have said, was that the Cox Plate gatherings should of course go ahead,” Mr Bolt said.
“And all other pointless bans – they should also be dropped.
“Instead, this government banned the Cox Plate parties, because otherwise people on twitter, the I stand with Dan crowd, might start asking awkward questions about its other equally useless bans. Bans that have smashed the state.
“So many bans made no sense, but rather than admit the obvious, Andrews and his minister have banned yet one more harmless activity.
“It's a con.
“And this con is now falling apart.”
