Frozen Noses

“Frozen Noses” by Jan Carr, illustrated by Dorothy Donohue, Holiday House Inc., New York, Copyright 1999. The delights and wonders of winter!

Wanting to take it a step further? Are you a caregiver or work with children? You might try this activity to go with “Frozen Noses”: Of course we think you should go outside and build a snowman! But if today the snow isn’t just right or the temperatures are just too cold, or maybe you live in a 3rd story apartment! You can try making snowflakes to hang inside a window in your home. Did you know that no two snow flakes are alike? Did you know we have a video on our YouTube channel showing you how to cut a snowflake out of paper? Here’s another cool way to do – get a white round coffee filter. Fold it in half 2-3 times. Then color it with different colors of marker. Snow flakes are, after all, made up of little ice crystals and crystals can create a rainbow of colors😊 Then make your little cut outs – careful to leave some edges intact. But before you open it, dip each of the three corners into a cup of water. Then carefully open it up and let it dry on a plate. You’ll never end up with 2 snowflakes that are exactly the same. Tape the finished product in a window!
