Want to take it a step further? Are you a caregiver or work with children? You might try this activity to go with “Purple, Green and Yellow“: Transformation is a dramatic change in appearance. I think the little girl in this book succeeded at transformation. Dramatically changing the appearance of something or someone can change our perspective our attitude toward it too. Try transforming something in your home by doing this art task. Get a piece of paper and some drawing materials such as markers or pencils. Then find an object that fits on your paper and trace around – a bowl works well but a toy or a shoe could be interesting too. Next take your hand and overlap it with the outline of what you just traced. Now color in the different shapes. You just transformed the outline of your hand and a found object into a new and interesting piece of artwork. Now consider the notion that if you can transfer these two objects to create something new, how might you go about transforming something in your life to make your life better? Might it be transforming your eating habits, a relationship, an organizational effort such as completing homework?
