The Baking Hour: Groundhogs Meet Ganache
February is here with a brand new episode from us, The Baking Hour! We celebrate Groundhog Day in this latest episode of The Baking Hour. Will Spring arrive early? Or will the everlasting cold winter of Western New York persist? What meteorological news will this fondant creature grace upon us in these telling times? For our viewers outside of North America, Groundhog day is a day of celebration in which it is announced whether a local celebrity groundhog sees its shadow after it emerges from its burrow. From what we understand, it is an ancient but effective means of predicting weather for the coming months... Anyway, buckle up and get ready for this tasty treat!
To properly celebrate this great traditional holiday, star baker Zekeriya takes us on a chocolate journey that even Augustus Gloop wishes he could join in on. Using ganache and strawberries, Zekeriya seals sweet and fresh flavors into our four layer chocolate cake. As is tradition, you crumb coat it, apply a liberal final layer, and go to town smoothing that cake out. No holiday cake is complete though without some proper decoration. Using an assortment of hand crafted edible decorations, the cake finally breathes life in this cruel cold world. White chocolate and oreos were used to make the compelling and surprisingly tasty rocks. Mug cake was used to make the photorealistic moss, while some time in the garden provided some non-edible foliage to keep our groundhog friends feeling comfortable! Watch as our Groundhogs meet ganache!
