Celebrate Star Wars with a May The Fourth Cake! Happy May the Fourth everyone! The Force is strong in this special episode of The Baking Hour! To celebrate this holiday and iconic franchise, The Dark Lord of the Bakery himself Darth Zekeriya makes a Star Wars cake. Star Wars is another franchise that is held dear to us at The Baking Hour! So strap yourselves in and prepare for a video jam packed with as many Star Wars meme references as you can possibly imagine.

Darth Zekeriya takes you through this prequel meme riddled video showing off the process of creating this two tiered cake. To play off the strong sense of light vs dark, the cake is both chocolate and vanilla. Both tiers of this cake are four layers, making this delectable cake very tall in the end!

The bottom tier is the dark, chocolate side. Using piping bags, nine to be exact, Zekeriya was able to blend together varying shades of colors to create a gradient effect on the cake. This helped set the stage for the fiery Mustafar environment that this tier was dedicated to. After that, another layer of swiss meringue buttercream, black this time, was applied on the bottom half, and then a sheet of aluminum foil was used to create a rocky-like texture. The center focal point of the bottom tier is Darth Vadar’s Castle. Darth Vadar’s Castle was a location first introduced as concept art back for Episode 5, and made its debut on the big screen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The top tier is the light, vanilla side. Again using piping bags of various colors, a gradient effect was applied to establish the iconic binary sunset moment in Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope. The focal point of the top is Luke’s home on Tatooine before it was brutally destroyed by those seemingly accurate Stormtroopers (yeah right Obi-Wan). Looking over them are the duel suns that Tatooine orbits. The two tiers play off each other. As George Lucas once said, it’s like poetry, it rhymes.
