Things I forbid my clients from doing as a nutritionist

Eating healthy food they hate
🥦Eating foods solely based on their nutritional value, without considering your personal preferences, can make the weight loss journey feel like a chore. You should explore a variety of healthy options that you genuinely enjoy.

🍞Restricting carbs
Carbs are absolutely crucial for your body and especially your brain. Cutting carbs drastically can lead to mood swings, energy crashes, and falling back into the binge then restrict cycle. Make sure to eat enough whole carbs and some refined carbs once in a while.

🍩Having off-limit foods
This can be counterproductive as it often gives these foods a ‘forbidden fruit’ allure, making them more tempting. When these foods are eaten, it can lead to feelings of failure and guilt, which may result in overeating. Rather than forbidding specific foods, allow all foods in moderation.

🍽️Skipping meals
Skipping meals seems great— you save so many calories that way? Right? WRONG! This can disrupt your hunger cues and patterns and lead to overeating later in the day. So try to focus on distributing your calorie intake throughout the day to maintain steady energy levels and prevent excessive hunger that can lead to poor food choices.

🏃‍♀️Exercising in a way they don’t enjoy
While exercising is beneficial for cardiovascular health, it’s only healthy if you actually do it! Forcing yourself to do something you hate will only result in you despising exercise and quitting. There are a bunch of fun ways to incorporate physical activity, so find what works for you!

🚫 Focusing on rules instead of what works for them
There are so many trends when it comes to dieting, and rules that often contradict each other. Every individual’s body and preferences are unique. You need to tailor your approach to fit into your lifestyle and your preferences so that it actually lasts!
