Shooting a Blizzard in Val d'Orcia, Tuscany - Landscape Photography Vlog #2 - Burian 2021
First of all: I'm truly, truly sorry for the audio quality. I know that it's really poor. Unfortunately the strong winds - together with my inexperience - have taken their toll. I really hope you'll still be able to enjoy the video!
Now, what's the story behind this vlog? Seeing the snow in this part of Tuscany is something that doesn't happen every year. It can get quite cold, don't get me wrong, but generally we don't see snow more often than every 4/5 years.
As the blizzard was set to pass between Saturday night and Sunday morning, I was comfortably laying on my sofa on the Saturday afternoon. Out of curiosity I made the "mistake" to check out the weather forecasts for the day after: a blizzard (named "Burian") is coming. Panic. I had to do something. FOMO kicked in, really hard. After a couple of hours of studying the weather and the logistic, I decided to take a room down there for the night and leave ASAP. Going there on the next morning was a too risky choice since I had to wake up really early and drive in the blizzard for more than two hours, not knowing the road conditions.
When I woke up, the day after, well.. I don't wanna spoil you anything else. You'll find the rest in the video; if you are a tiny bit curious about how the rolling hills of Tuscany and the ancient towns of the area like Pienza, Montalcino and San Quirico d'Orcia look with snow, check it out!
