Gigafactory Texas on 14 June 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
A busy start to the week, and the heat wave has now arrived! A lot of interesting discoveries today, including a Model Y bare body in the General Assembly building, movement of castings and insider information that the area where I showed interior images of the General Assembly building last week is where the “marriage” line that joins the painted body to the drive train and suspension happens! (see my 29 May video for these photos and other information)

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- Model Y bare body spotted inside the General Assembly building … this is likely a test body used to ensure proper installation, testing and calibration of the General Assembly conveyor line, machines and robotic assemblers.
- In the battery cell structure, we see the last upper floor concrete pour happening this morning. This will complete the upper-level floors on this structure while slab pours and bridge crane installation occurs on the ground floor.
- On the east side in the battery cathode and Lithium Hydroxide production area, we see resumed foundation work, widening it and also finishing the grade levelling across the entire area (this effort to level the ground is almost completed).
- Farther on the east side, a growing storage area of large steel beams and columns was noted. It is possible this is being used to store (temporarily) the steel parts needed to begin closing in the central area of the main facility, as staging areas on the foundation are becoming difficult due to the rapid assembly of the main structure there and not so much free level ground.
- We look briefly at the new clearing area just north of the Martin Marietta maintenance facility and battery cathode area and see that is is being carefully levelled for some unknown purpose at this time.
- On the east Body-in-White structure, we see windows getting ready to being installation and we look inside the last area without concrete external walls. I have heard that the large rectangular foundation area that is still visible may be for collecting and then recycling excess metal from the stamping machines. Just next to this area, large conveyor and scaffolding apparatus’ have been assembled and from some inside images I’ve seen, a conveyor system goes down into one of the large isolation foundations, which is highly suggestive of excess metal collection.
- In the casting area, we see more columns waiting for installation and a lot og GeoPier work in the area where the temporary LNG tanks were located. Also, we see that many more castings have been made, confirming the permanent gas pipeline is now functional and possibly testing of the second Giga Press has begun. We also watch the movement of the castings via forklift into large trucks. The handling of the castings is very rough, suggesting these may be going to be recycled.
- On the west side of the highway, we see a lot of earthmoving equipment working to remove hills and ponds (which are rapidly becoming flat land) and a lot of work on the roadway .. possibly getting close to seeing Asphalt installed soon.
- On the south end, we see what appears to be more preparation to do the drilling under the river to route the fusion-welded water pipe. Also, under the south bridge, it appears that they have added a lot of dirt to raise what will be the roadway underneath, possibly to mitigate some flooding risk.
- In the central area, we see the two rows of water vaults (in a “H” pattern) are nearly completed and it appears this will be the final format. There are very few water vaults remining to be installed, so this gives another clue that we are nearing the end of this construction.
