Stepping into the cockpit, one of the most visible changes is the additional legroom for pilots made possible by 4.5 inches or 12 centimeters of added seat tracking. The CJ3 Gen 2, approved for single-pilot operation, showcases the Garmin G3000 avionics suite, dual touchscreen interfaces with Garmin’s latest software. The advanced suite also features dual FMS/WAAS-enabled GPSs, a Terrain Awareness and Warning System, a Traffic Collision Avoidance System, ADS-B Out and In, and more.
The Garmin glass panel includes synthetic vision and Garmin’s new GWX8000 StormOptix digital radar with turbulence detection and ground clutter suppression. Plus, you can upgrade with the optional Enhanced Vision System.
Another advancement is the addition of new standard, full-regime Garmin autothrottles with under-speed and over-speed protection. Another upgrade is the available GDL 60 datalink for aircraft connectivity.
The aircraft also features Garmin’s G3000 Central Maintenance Computer, Textron Aviation’s Aircraft Recording System, and LinxUS or LinxUS Air.

4:47 - Sustainability
The company also cites a commitment to conscious manufacturing, including sustainably sourced interior materials.
“All of our fabrics are rapidly renewable and flame retardant,” said Tannahill. “So, we spend a lot of time on making sure that our suppliers are in line with all of the regulations.”
The aircraft’s leather seats are long-lasting, easy to replace, and durable and biodegradable at the end of their lifecycles, said Tannahill. Meanwhile, the interior carpets are made from either wool or silk.

5:48 - Engine, Performance Specs, and Flying Experience
Now, let’s talk about the engine, performance specifications, and how it flies. The CJ3 Gen2 is powered by 2 Williams FJ44-3A turbofan engines with a TBO of 5,000 hours, each producing 2,820 pounds of thrust, with maintenance intervals that remain 12 months or 400 hours. The aircraft requires 3,180 feet or 970 meters of runway to take off at sea level on a standard day, and has a maximum net payload of 2,135 pounds or 968 kilograms, and a full-fuel payload of 820 pounds or 372 kilograms.
The engines allow an impressive maximum rate of climb per minute of 4,480 feet or 1,365 meters, allowing it to reach its cruising altitude of FL450 in just 27 minutes, and a maximum cruising altitude of 45,000 feet or 13,716 meters. The plane has a maximum speed of 478 knots, and a maximum cruise speed of 416 knots, making it one of the fastest light jets in its class, with an average hourly fuel burn of 150 gallons or 570 liters of Jet-A fuel.
The jet has a maximum range of 2,040 nautical miles, which is 2,348 miles or 3,779 kilometers, with 4 passengers and 2 crew members on board. The plane has a minimum landing distance of 2,770 feet or 844 meters.
