0:00 Intro
For this panoramic drone photo, the most important part was to fix the exposure to get back details, especially in the sky. Also, I wanted to get back some more of those golden color tones which got a bit lost in the raw files. With the camera raw editor, I made most of the changed, while I used Photoshop for some final post processing.
0:28 1. Basic Adjustments
First, I changed the profile to Adobe neutral for a low contrast base image. Then, I adjusted the white balance and dropped the exposure a bit. To get back more detail from the bright areas, I also dropped the highlights. As the image was very flat at this point, I added a bit of contrast and dehaze. For a sharp looking shot, I added texture and clarity.
3:30 2. Local Adjustments
I started with two different linear gradients over the sky. Here, I dropped the exposure, added contrast and clarity and reduced the white balance temperature. This made the sky darker, gave the clouds more detail and a little colder.
Using another linear gradient, I made the foreground darker (without changing the brightness of the river). I also added some morel light coming in from the right side with a few radial gradients (increasing whites, blacks and dropping dehaze)
9:17 3. Color Grading
To make the yellow / green tones a bit more interesting, I dropped the green and yellow hue, then raised the yellow saturation and luminance, while dropping the green luminance.
For the split toning I used a warm color for the highlights with a lot of saturation and a cold color for the mid-tones with a bit less saturation.
10:48 4. Photoshop
I started by straightening the horizon with the warp transformation tool. Then, I did some dodging and burning mainly on the landscape in the foreground to add more contrast in this area. Finally, I used the nik collection plug in to enhance the colors some more (with the polarization filter)
