To make this photo more pleasing, I wanted to enhance the colors, while adding strong contrast by making the sky darker and also adding some subtle sunlight glow coming in from the left side. A lot was done within the camera raw editor, while I used Photoshop to do some dodging and adding the glow.
0:25 1. Basic Adjustments
I changed the profile to Adobe neutral for a very flat image. Then, I adjusted the white balance to get a slightly warmer image. I dropped the highlights to get back some details from the sky, then increased the whites, the blacks and the contrast. For a more detailed photo, I added texture and some dehaze. Finally, added vibrance for more colors.
2:33 2. Masking
First, I made the blue part of the sky darker. Here, I used a color range mask on the blue tones and simply dropped the exposure. Next, I worked on the mountain range in the back by inverting a sky mask and subtracting the foreground. Here, I added contrast and dropped the shadows. Then, I selected the foreground using the brush mask. Here, I added texture, contrast, some whites and dropped the temperature to reduce the yellow color cast. For the glow effect on the left I used a radial gradient and increased the blacks and dropped the dehaze inside of it.
6:30 3. Color Grading
I pushed the yellow, green and blue saturation, then in the luminance tab pushed the yellow and green luminance while dropping the blue luminance. This makes the gras brighter and the blue sky darker. For the split toing I added a warm color to highlights and mid-tones and a cold color to the shadows.
8:22 4. Photoshop
With the TK Panel plug in I created specific luminosity masks to dodge areas in the foreground (basically might the brighter parts a little brighter). Then, with the Nik Collection plug in I added the glamour glow effect for more sunlight on the left side
