Al Pastor Seitan | Vegan Tacos | WTF | Washed The Flour Method | Vegan Al Pastor

Hello friends! I’m so excited to share this Al Pastor style Seitan Recipe with you all. This seitan was used in tacos. I hope you recreate it and enjoy it as much as we did!

I used the WTF method..
Sorry to divert you, but if you haven’t done so already, please follow the step by step instructions on how to wash the flour from my “Vegan Drumstick” video if you haven’t washed flour before.

This yields enough for 5 servings ( about 20 tacos ).

Ingredients:
1 Tsp thyme
1 Tsp oregano
1/2 Tsp cumin powder
1/2 Tsp white pepper powder
1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
2 Tbsp consommé ( I use Osem brand, but you are welcome to use whichever one you prefer )
1/4 of a 3oz cube achiote paste (about 1 1/2 Tbsp)
1 1/2 Tbsp chili powder
2 tsp smoked paprika
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp rice vinegar
1 1/2 Tbsp liquid smoke
2 Tbsp vegetable oil ( I used canola oil)
4 Tbsp pineapple juice
1/2 of a small beet
Blend all ingredients together until you create a paste.
Add seasoning paste to the washed dough in small batches using a blender.

Simmering Broth:

1/4 of sliced onion
1 Tbsp consommé
1/4 of the achiote paste cube ( or 1 1/2 Tbsps )
Remaining paste from blender ( as seen in video )
Salt to taste

Marinade:

1 Tbsp chili powder
1/2 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 Tbsp chili pepper flakes
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp garlic salt
