Forearm Stand for Beginners | Step-By-Step Teaching Tutorial | Arhanta Yoga
Welcome to Arhanta Yoga’s Forearm Stand Tutorial for beginners. Step onto the mat with senior teachers Kalyani Hauswirth Jain & Omkar Jain and learn how to do and teach Forearm Stand, also known as Pincha Mayurasana or Feathered Peacock Pose. 🧘♂️ 🧘♀️
In this video, Omkar will guide you through the steps to perform Forearm Stand safely to ensure both you and your students receive its full benefit. Forearm Stand strengthens your arms, shoulders, and back, while improving your core strength, balance, and reducing fear of falling. Plus, inversions increase blood flow to the brain!
Here's how to do (and teach) Forearm Stand:
🔶 Ask the student to measure their arms by grabbing opposite elbows.
🔶 Keep one foot in front of the hands, the other foot next to the elbow.
🔶 Ask the student to lift their hips and walk their feet toward their head, looking at the big toe and lifting one leg up.
🔶 Turn your face away and prepare to catch the ankle with one hand.
🔶 1-2-3 hop! Ask the student to squeeze your hand between their ankles/knees. Then, if stable, snake-hand assist. Then buddy-arm assist.
🔶 To come out of the pose, support one ankle and slow down the descent.
It takes strength, focus, and body alignment to perform the Forearm Stand, but with a helping hand or two, you can do it safely.

In this video, Omkar will guide you through the steps to perform Forearm Stand safely to ensure both you and your students receive its full benefit. Here's how to do (and teach) Forearm Stand:
🔶 Ask the student to measure their arms by grabbing opposite elbows.
