Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of OcraMed Health, discusses and demonstrates how to perform fascial release to the trapezius muscle.
The trapezius muscle is a very large muscle of the back. It originates from the base of the skull (occiput) down to the level of the 12th thoracic vertebrae. It then inserts laterally on the outer one third of the clavicle (collar bone) and the upper portion of the scapulae (onto the spine of the scapulae).
This muscle assist in movement of the shoulder and scapular. It plays an important role in posture. It also helps stabilize the back and shoulder complex. It is a commonly injured muscle both in the gym and during daily activity.
Dr. Joe demonstrates how to perform fascial release on the entire trapezius muscle to help relieve trapezius tightness and pain.
