Designing and making a minimalist kitchen knife handle.

The goal of this kitchen knife was to design and make a handle that worked well with the busy pattern on the blade once it was etched and finished.

The difficulty with designing a handle for this kind of blade is that it's tempting to want to do the craziest one ever with all sorts of different materials and flairs, but ultimately the ones that look the best in my opinion are ones that actually balance out as a whole piece, rather than a sum of the pieces.

Damasteel is a stainless damascus made in Sweden that is done through powder metallurgy. The material is really clean and performs really well, and because of the way it's made, some wild patterns are possible. This blade is made from their Odin Heim pattern, and it's a pretty fine and ordered aesthetic to it.

The handle is black paper micarta with two liners of silver lightning strike carbon fiber.
