BLADE Show was great, but we're back to ghetto.
Just a fun video, nothing too serious. I have to combat my perfectionist ambitions somehow.
I figure I show a less... elegant side to knife making. A lot of people think it's romantic fires, dim lighting, and seductive smoke all day every day, but actually it's much less exciting (at least where I'm at).
In this video I try out a stonewash finish. I've been wanting to do these for a long, long time but never got around to it. Part of it was the unknown, part of it was the slight investment, and part of it was just procrastination.
Ben Tendick of BRT Bladeworks gave me some good pointers and they really helped. I'm still experimenting with it a lot! There are a lot of variables, such as the knife you start with, the steel and hardness, your tumbler, your abrasives, your finish before you put it in, how long, wet or dry, etc.

And of course, gotta talk about my friend David Martin of Red Desert BBQ. As I said in the video, he's fantastic. He makes GREAT good, but he's an amazing person. I was happy to make this knife, and I'm extremely happy that he's really enjoying the new tool for his craft.
