Travel back in time on Bailgate, Lincoln

Bailgate, locally known as "the Bail", is one of Lincoln's oldest streets, with a history going back 2,000 years. It was the site of the Roman Forum, and has been at the heart of historic Lincoln ever since. This time shift barely touches the history of the old street. The narrow little street of Gordon Road is coming up on the left, and if you want to see more of it use the search feature to see a video that shows much more of it.

A lot of the buildings are similar today, and many will be Listed, but some in the middle distance have changed completely. The footpath has widened considerably to make the area more pedestrian friendly, although drivers might not agree. The new photo was hard to get as it was Saturday afternoon and crowded with people bustling past with little time for the weird guy trying to take photos!
